Good Luck in Athens, James

Thanks for all your messages of support. Here are just some of the messages James received from around the World....

Dear James , Well Done in your "last" race , its a shame that you didn't get into the final.....but in my opinion your swimming was good enough to get you there. I watched your interview with Sharron Davies.....you said you are going to retire - Why??????? If you do though , it would be nice if you could do some presenting work for the BBC revolving around the sport. As I said ... Well Done !!!!!! - You deserved a medal in my opinion. All the best in whatever you decide to do. Kieren Moss , Warwickshire

Dear James, Well done in the Olympics&ldots; You did fantastic. You’re my hero and have inspired me to swim. Your personality is great and is always nice to know that you have a smiley face. But what a career and we will all miss you.. From Alex, Basingstoke.

Hi James, Just to say well done on getting into the semis and good luck for tonight !From Sam, Vince John, Harrison, Victoria and Abigail Ayling (Guildford City Swimming Club)

Hi James, You may not remember me but I am Stuart Thornley, I used to train at Grand Central gym with Donald Johnson, Ted and Ian etc. Anyway just to let you know that I will be cheering you on I have every faith that you can win. I remember when I used to swim at St Petersgate baths in Stockport where you first started. Every Saturday when I went to swim there I would look at the times the likes of yourself and Graham Smith were producing; others as well. I always knew you guys would be at the top one day. It's wonderful to see how all those years of hard work have paid off. All the very best to yourself and the rest of the Great Britain team. Stuart

Hi James, I'm really looking forward to seeing you swim on Thursday. I loved your enthusiasm at the Commonwealth Games and I'm sure that your upbeat personality and the boost given to the team by Stephen Parry winning bronze will spur you on. Good Luck and enjoy yourself. By the way... chuckled when I read your comment about the haircut and the salon - cunjured up a very strange picture in my mind!! With much admiration, Pam Bird (Wirral)

Hi, My name is Lottie, I swim for the Borough of Waltham Forest Swimming Club, you have probably never heard of it before. I also swim for the county of Essex. I only swim 10 hours a week as I get a lot of homework from school, I recently swam at the nationals. It is hard for me to get to the nationals as my birthday is two days before the closing date. I just wanted to say good luck, you have done amazingly in your life so far. I hope you win a medal. I will watch out for you. Lottie, London xxx

Good luck in Athens in your 3rd Olympics - a real achievement, we are very proud of you! We will be cheering from the US for you. Margaret, Andy and Adam

Dear James, I have been following the web site for most of the year. I was very disappointed that the English championships were not featured on television lately and finding the results has been almost impossible. A friend of mine was involved with the lead up to the Commonwealth Games championships in 2002. She supervised the youngsters who looked after kit, I think. Anyway, she was very impressed with how friendly you were to everyone and so I have been really interested in how you have done ever since. All the very best for the Olympics. Fingers crossed for the gold medal. Ann Hughes.
